Merchant Accounts Express
About:
Merchant Express, also known as Merchant Accounts Express, is based in Nashua, New Hampshire, and was founded in 1998. The company is owned by TransFirst, a very large transaction processor with a corporate headquarters in Hauppauge, New York, and much of its operations concentrated in Broomfield, Colorado. Merchant Express is essentially an independent sales arm of TransFirst, but is also a reseller for First Data and PipeLine Data.

Pros:
Very few complaints. Merchants can frequently get approval in less than 24 hours. They have 24/7 U.S.-based customer service, no hidden fees, and for the most part, they offer competitive rates and fees. They also offer a range of equipment. The company is ranked A+ by the Better Business Bureau with only 15 complaints in the last 36 months, all complaints at least addressed, if not resolved. Seasonal downtime is offered and they offer the merchant friendly interchange-plus pricing method.

Cons:
Their standard contract is 3 years with a "30 Day Risk Free Trial," except if you cancel after the 30 day free trial you are charged a $495 cancellation fee. Ouch! An option is to ask to pay their $100 upfront fee to be enabled to go on a month-to-month basis. Policies can change. Ask about cancellation fees, contract length, and annual fees in addition to other rates and fees.

Conclusion:
With so few complaints, one has to conclude the Merchant Express is delivering customer satisfaction. However cancellation fees can be high, policies can change so be sure to be clear what you're getting into with the "30 Day Risk Free Trial," which can be a 3-year commitment. Confirm cancellation fees and policies and other fees, including annual fees.
